3 Signs You have a Fixed Mindset and What to Do About It

Wouldn't it be amazing to have one of those rock solid mindsets that "those" successful entrepreneurs seem to have rather than feeling like you're on an emotional rollercoaster or worse - stuck in a negative spiral because something went "wrong" in your business? Of course it would!

The good news? You CAN upgrade your mindset.

Understanding Growth and Fixed Mindset (a theory by Carol Dweck) is a great place to start when upgrading your mindset. With a growth mindset, you believe that your talents, intelligence and personality are just starting points - you know you can learn and develop.

I bet you have a growth mindset in quite a few areas BUT what happens when challenge hits? That's when I see some of my clients show some signs of a fixed mindset. 

Let's dive in ...

3 Signs you have a Fixed Mindset. 

  1. You believe others succeed because they are "x"
  2. You believe the challenges you experience are because you are "y"
  3. You default to beliefs like "I'm not good enough," or "I'm not worthy enough," or "Maybe I'm just not cut out for this." 

This can lead to trying to prove yourself over and over again - mostly to YOURSELF. 

It can lead you to avoiding situations that make you feel like a failure - trying new things, launching, doing things that challenge you (in that GOOD way), being consistent, being visible, promoting yourself, following through. 

It can lead to constant comparison with others rather than focusing on what YOU are amazing at - and developing your OWN skills, talents, resilience and so on. 

What to do about it. 

  1. Decide you're going to change your mindset. Even KNOWING about the growth mindset and the fact that having one leads to greater success can improve your growth mindset! But of course - we want to go further than that.
  2. Choose to see yourself as a learner, capable of developing and growing in ALL areas
